History

Founded by Devon Harrison in 2000, Northern & Western Insurance Company, Ltd. (NWIC) has surpassed its 10 year anniversary and entered into its 11th year. NWIC holds a General Class License issued by Nevis Financial Services under Registration no 27608. The company is authorized to operate under the Nevis International Insurance Ordinance of 2004.

As has been the case since its formation, NWIC’s underwriting focus is primarily in the Financial Guarantee, Marine Insurance and the Aviation Sector; however NWIC is always looking at expanding their interest in various niche markets that are currently being underserved.

Financial Guarantee business, accounts for approximately 40% of our premium volume. Aviation business has been booming and equates for approximately 50% of all premiums. Marine Insurance is currently 10% of all premiums and is at the forefront of our current focus. NWIC plans to double the volume of Marine Insurance in the coming year and have plans to attend a number of yachting shows in the coming months. The geographic areas of concentration include the Caribbean and South Asian waters with smaller concentrations in Europe and West Africa.

While NWIC is not presently a rated carrier the corporate goal is to accomplish this by the end of 2011.
