Northern & Western Insurance Company, Ltd. (NWIC), recently visited Malta. The purpose of the visit was to meet with Malta Regulators and to attend a meeting in regards to the current application on the license submission for Northern & Western Insurance Company (Europe). The meeting with the Malta Financial Services Authority helped provide valuable insight to NWIC in the process and we also were able to meet with Stanley Mifsud, who is the registered agent and also works for Island Insurance Management in Malta. It was very productive and definitely worth the trip.
During our travels we took time to enjoy the beauty of Malta and discovered the city of Mdina. This city has a wonderful history. The Knights of Saint John built an amazing fortress in Mdina. This incredible architecture has stood the test of time. The most impressive factor was that the villagers still inhabited this historical site. Even though there is a presence of history everywhere you look, the country also portrays a very contemporary lifestyle.
No matter how much you travel, it is amazing how many times the landscape will remind you of the other countries you visit, with a little of Italian backdrop of Genoa, some hometown Caribbean and even a little south Texas landscape all wrapped up in one more beautiful island in this world.
A great venture to say the least. NWIC is excited about the possibility of providing insurance to clients overseas - this was the true highlight of our travels. Malta is a beautiful island that exudes a positive atmosphere. Our plans are to return to Malta in the fall, with the desire to finalize our license and celebrate our future in this incredible country.
